Occlusal Splints

Protection for your teeth and fillings is crucial, especially if you experience jaw tension or headaches while you sleep. These symptoms could be indicators of bruxism, a condition characterized by night-time clenching or grinding of the teeth. If left untreated, bruxism can lead to worn or cracked teeth, muscle fatigue in the jaw, and strain on the jaw joints (TMJ).

A custom-made night guard, known as an occlusal splint, serves as an effective bruxism treatment. It is designed to protect your teeth and support your jaw, providing much-needed jaw tension relief and alleviating discomfort. This simple, non-invasive solution helps prevent damage and ease symptoms, allowing you to rest more comfortably and safeguard your long-term oral health.

During your assessment, we will look for signs of clenching or grinding, such as worn tooth surfaces, tiny fractures, or jaw stiffness, and then prescribe an appropriate splint. Each splint is precisely fitted to your bite and is worn during sleep.
